Recovering Color-a-Holic

Friday, November 13, 2015

For those of you who are just now joining me on this journey
I will give you a quick recap and catch you up to date! :)

All my life I have wanted long, gorgeous and healthy hair
yet I was so addicted to changing my hair color that
the damage prevented me from ever achieving that goal.

After 6 months of Army training I got my hair chopped off to my shoulders.

After two and a half years and two pregnancies I was finally
reaching my lifetime goal of long healthy hair.

At least I thought so...
Late July I attempted to change my hair color to burgundy.
The color kept fading so fast that after a week I would have
dull, ugly, pink hair and I couldn't stand it.

So the dummy I am attempted to bleach my hair back blonde.

It took THREE MAJOR hair cuts to finally cut off all the fried/damaged hair.
I also went back to a more natural light brown color until my hair was healthier.
The plan has always been to go back blonde when the time was right
and now after 8 months I am finally going to update you all!

Keep in mind that after having my son in May I did
experience hair loss and more dryness slowing the growth.

I was determined to find something to help and despite
my most SKEPTICAL judgments I finally gave
It Works! Hair Skin Nails a chance to prove me wrong.
(This post is by no means paid for or false advertising. I do not sell It Works! this is an honest opinion + review.)

Not only am I thrilled how fast my hair is growing (finally)!
I am head over heels in love with how healthy my hair looks and feels!

The difference is mind blowing!

I finally stopped wearing my extensions everyday because
I no longer feel like my hair is hideous without them.
I actually love my long BLONDE healthy bob
and couldn't be more thrilled with how far
my hair journey has progressed in the last year.

I have accepted that sometimes it takes a catastrophe to
make you change your ways and as devastated as I was
holding half of my hair in my hand as it fell out...
I can say that it opened my eyes to how badly I was treating my hair.

  • I no longer binge color my hair or use hot styling tools on it everyday.
  • When I do style it I use heat protectant.
  • I stopped using bleach and started going to a professional who uses a Hi-Lift color on my hair.
  • I no longer wash my hair daily stripping it of its natural oils.
  • I make sure to use proper moisturizing shampoo + conditioner.
  • I take my vitamins and It Works! Hair Skin Nails to help my hair stay healthy and grow.

If you are going through these same struggles with your hair I hope my post encouraged you to take the steps to healthier hair.

If you have any questions about the It Works! Hair Skin Nail vitamins you can email Regena at

Thank you so much for following my journey! :)

5 Reasons Why I Make a Horrible Blogger

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Tank top from SweetTsDesign
1)  9 out of 10 I am dressed like above.
Mom bun, jeans, tank top and very minimal makeup.
In order to take fashion photos I have to get ready
and as a mother of 3 under 3... ain't nobody got time for that.

2) I lack consistency.
Example: I am going to blog every Tuesday + Thursday.
Well, Tuesday the kids had doctor appointments
and little one got shots which made Wednesday + Thursday
a big bundle of FUN as I pleaded for just two seconds
him to feel all better and the crying to stop.
Nothing ever goes as I planned.

3) I don't own a white bedspread.
Have you ever noticed that EVERY blogger
has this amazingly huge bed with white
blankets to take adorable family photos in?
Not only is my comforter a mix of whatever
blankets don't have baby pee or puke on it
at the time but my bedroom also looks like a war zone.
6 moves in the last 3 years = everything still in boxes.
It's like we are afraid to unpack.
Which leads us to...

4) I don't live in a beautifully decorated house.
In all honesty we don't even have photos hanging on the
walls because every hole we put in has to be fixed
when we leave which is actually next week!
Matt and I have been house shopping for 3 years
and if you have followed our journey you know
we are very LUCKLESS.
So if you love photos with blank white
walls and sometimes boxes in the background

5) We don't go on fancy vacations.
As much as I would love to be laying on
a beach with an adult beverage in my hand
lets be honest it really wouldn't
 be that much fun anyways.
Treyson would be screaming because he is too hot.
Brayden would throw sand in Elena's eyes and
forever want to be in the water but scream
because the water hurt his eyes and taste bad.
And Elena would simply be trying to eat everything
on the beach from cigarette butts to shells.
So as good as the idea sounds I think ill pass +
put the money towards my stroller addiction.

Beating the slump and working towards my goals

Monday, August 3, 2015

Lets start at the beginning.
Pre Pregnancy and 19 year old body.

I never struggled with my body or weight in my past because I was always so active and fit.
In high school I ran cross country and long distance track. Trained hard and made it to states.
After a year of college I decided I needed a break and joined the Army NG.
Off to basic training I went where I kicked A at PT and never felt better about my body.
I averaged around 105-110 lbs and had a BMI of 18.
I would of never guessed that 5 months later I would be pregnant with my first child.

STARTED: 110lbs ENDED: 160lbs +50
My first pregnancy I had a serious addiction to brownies and Netflix.
I managed to gain a whopping 50 lbs and it showed!
Thankfully yet sadly I had to leave for 3 weeks of Army training and
the weight just poured off from all the heat and working out.
By the time I got home I was back down to 115lbs
but I also found out I was pregnant 2 weeks later!
Talk about a welcome home gift from my man.
He's always been the go hard or go home type!

STARTED: 115lbs ENDED: 140lbs +25lbs

With my daughter I made sure to stay active and eat healthy.
I replaced sweets with fruit and drank tons of water.
Post baby I started walking daily and working out at home.
Breastfeeding was also such an amazing way to lose the weight.
I was deeply considering becoming a Beachbody Coach but
found out I was once again pregnant.
3 babies in 3 years!

STARTED: 118lbs ENDED: 145lbs +27

And now we catch up on present day!
I am currently 3 months postpartum and 130lbs.
I have slacked at staying active or eating healthy this time around.
From doing so I not only have struggled accepting my body
but it has been a gateway to many of the issues i've been dealing with.

From not eating healthy or drinking enough water I have struggled with
migraines, lack of milk supply for breastfeeding, feeling unmotivated and being tired.
Some days all I would want to do is sit on the couch and watch Netflix on my phone.
My man and I would fight about house hold chores not being done
and ultimately I felt like a failure as a mother while the kids watched
way too many cartoons and I had to start supplementing formula.

I felt myself slipping into a depression.
I didn't feel sexy so I wasn't into mommy daddy time.
So not only were we fighting more because of the house not being clean
but he was also left feeling unwanted like I no longer was attracted to him.
In reality I wasn't attracted to myself.

I was behind on collaborations, blog posts and momcode orders.
In my hardest days I always took pride that at least I was a kick ass mom
but when I even started slacking at that it was a slap in the face.
I vowed to never be the nagging lazy mom and wife who lets themselves go.
It was time to drag myself out of self pity and make some changes.

It is easy to say you're going to do something then give up after a few days, weeks or even months.
I figured what better way to make sure I achieve and stick to my goals than being a coach for others?
In a way not so much a coach but an inspiration for other moms who find themselves in the same slump.

I took the plunge and signed up for Beachbody.
I got my package to start 21 day fix and Shakeology,
it also included Beachbody on demand where I can access ALL workouts online,
then made it my goal to kick ass and show everyone I can do this.

August 2nd 2015

In just one week I lost 2lbs and inches off my waist!
I wore a bikini swimming this weekend for the first time
all summer and Matt already said my butt feels firmer. ;)
I am amazed at what just one week looks like and can't
wait to see what I look like after all 21 days is up!
Just by eating healthier and working out I am slowly
getting out of my slump and becoming an even better
version of myself that I knew was in there somewhere.

My Labor and Delivery with Treyson ♥

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Out of all three of my pregnancies I have to say
Treyson's was the most difficult for me.
From having three consecutive pregnancies
my pelvis, tailbone and hips hurt so bad
starting as early as the second trimester.

I was always on the edge because
unlike my prior pregnancies I was
constantly having minor bleeding
and losing my mucous plug.

With my first two pregnancies I didn't
experience any of that until a week
or two before going into labor.

It all began at 35 weeks when I dropped the
kids off at Matt's parents and headed to the hospital
with slightly painful but consistent contractions.
After an hour of being monitored I was told to
go home drink lots of water and try to rest.
My midwife knew that was easier said than done with two under two.
Cervix was soft and dilated 1cm.
Contractions every 4 minutes

After trying to take it easy for a week but
still consistently losing bloody mucous I ended
up back at the hospital once again.
I blame Matt's gumbo that I jokingly told him
to make it spicy to jump start my labor.
He claims he didn't make it spicy but either way
a few bites in and I was running upstairs trying
to pinch a penny between my butt cheeks
If you get what I am saying.

After completely emptying my system and
having slightly stronger contractions I decided
it was time to go to the hospital to be checked again.
I told Matt to stay home while the babies slept
and at 11pm I drove myself to the hospital.
Lets be honest I was too anxious/nervous to sleep.
And may I add the hospital is 3 miles down the road.

The Verdict
50% effaced
4cm dilated
cringe worthy contractions
every 4-5 minutes.
Sac of water bulging between
the babies head and my cervix.

After an hour of no progression I got sent home.
There went my dream for his birthday to be 5-5-15 to match Elena's 4-4-14
So many people seemed shocked since I
was already 4cm dilated but technically
I was still in "premature" labor meaning
they couldn't intervene or even recommend
anything besides rest and drink fluids.

I got home a little after midnight and finally
fell asleep around 1am just to wake up at
4:30 am with painful contractions.
I found this so funny because I woke up at 4am in labor with Elena.
I slid in the bath where I stayed for a few hours
timing my contractions and trying to plan
what we were doing with the kids and
how my mother was going to make it over.
She didn't own a vehicle at the time and was at work.

Drop the kids off at Matts parents
Be at the hospital by 7:30 am to get checked
Let my mom know so she could make her own game plan.

5cm dilated
painful contractions 4-6 minutes
no progress from 8am-2pm
so they sent me home.

My mom ended up taking a half day at work
and getting a ride to the hospital with my Aunt.
I felt horrible that after taking off work and driving
an hour I wasn't going to have the baby and
I feared that she would end up missing the birth.
Lets face it, without my mom during labor
I would be a mess!

Matt gave my mom the keys to his truck for her
to drive home that way she could rush back if needed.
But she stuck around and rode with us to go
pick up the kids from Matts parents house.
I could hardly walk without having to stop every
few seconds with a horrible contraction.
I remember being horrified at the thought of
being in that amount of pain for days.
On the car ride over I would fall asleep then
wake up every painful contraction.
I just kept telling myself to be strong
because it was only going to get worse.

By the time we got to his parents I was
bent over laying on the kitchen counter
every contraction unable to talk through them.
We packed the kids into the car and back home we went.
The ride home was just as horrifying and
I almost begged Matt to carry me inside
so I wouldn't get a contraction every step.

Right into the bathtub I went
where I stayed for hours.
Even Brayden joined me at one point.
My contractions were still 4-6 minutes apart
but so painful that I had to breath and
massage my back to get through them.
I just kept reminding myself that
it was only going to get worse that I had to be strong.

When I finally came down stairs I sat on my
birth ball and rolled my hips back and forth
while massaging my back during the contractions.

I laid down on the couch because I was in
so much pain and Matt the clean couch nazi
asked if I was going to ruin the couch
if my water broke - lmao.
Here I am in horrible pain and he's
worried about the damn couch!
Don't worry about me ill just go lay down
on the kitchen floor so I don't ruin anything.

At this point I texted my midwife and told her
that I was in so much pain but my
contractions were still only 4 minutes apart.
She gave me the option to go back into the
hospital to be checked and Matt looked at me
like I was nuts for wanting to go back after
spending 6 hours there in the past 2 days.

I told him to stay home with the kids while
my mom drove me to the hospital to be checked.

8 cm dilated
Baby was in position ready to go

Wait for Matt to get to the hospital
Break my water

Minor set back...
If you remember my mom had the key to
Matt's truck and his spare key was on
my key set that I had at the hospital.
We had no one lined up to watch the
babies and I had their carseats
in my car at the hospital.

Matt said he was about to throw
the kids in their double stroller and
run all the way to the hospital!
I would of laughed if I wasn't about to
push a baby out my fine china.

His older brother ended up coming to the
rescue and not only sitting at the house while
the kids slept but also letting Matt borrow his car.

Matt walks in at 9pm as they are breaking
my water and announcing that I am 9 cm dilated.
My whole body was numb and tingling
Our bodies have an amazing way of naturally dealing with pain.
After 35 minutes of intense
100% natural labor
24 hours of contractions
4 good pushes
no tears or lacerations
Treyson Michael Scott Morris
entered the world officially.
36 weeks gestation.
9:35pm weighing 6lbs 11 ounces
and 19 inches long.
Bigger then his big sister was at 38 weeks.
Couldn't of asked for a more perfect little
man to welcome into our family.
